Masters of Rock
Masters of Rock is a Czech metal festival. It takes place every year in mid-July in Vizovice on the grounds of the Rudolf Jelinek distillery, about 100 km east of Brno near the Slovakian border. Vizovice is located in a picturesque valley in Moravian Wallachia.
The first Masters of Rock took place in 2003 with around 15,000 visitors. By 2007 the festival had grown to a size of 30,000 visitors.
Around 40 bands play at the Masters of Rock every year. The festival area includes a. a main stage (since 2010 Ronnie James Dio Stage) with a concrete audience area, side stage for young bands and a large beer tent. There are still countless snack and merchandising stands on the well-paved area. A large free campsite is offered by the organizer in front of the festival area, but for a small fee you can also camp on private property anywhere in the area.
Since 2010 the festival has had its own anthem - the song "Masters of Rock" - played by the Moravian power metal band Salamandra (co-produced by Sabaton).
Since 2005 there has been an additional day in December, the so-called Winter Masters of Rock in nearby Zlin (formerly Gottwaldov), on which other bands perform.
