Nervosa ( Portuguese : Zorn ) is a Brazilian thrash metal band from São Paulo . The band is signed to Napalm Records and has released three studio albums to date . All band members are women.

history

Founding and Victim of Yourself

The band was founded in 2010 by singer and guitarist Prika Amaral, Karem Ramos (guitar) and drummer Fernanda Terra. A year later, bassist Fernanda Lira joined, while Karen Ramos left the band. Ramos lived far outside of São Paulo and was therefore rarely able to participate in band rehearsals. The remaining musicians, who had previously played in all-women bands, then decided to continue as a trio . In 2012 the band released the demo Time of Death and produced a music video for the song Masked Betrayer . Drummer Fernanda Terra left the band a short time later, was replaced first by Jully Lee and later by Pitchu Ferraz. In May 2012 the band was signed by the Austrian record label Napalm Records.

Prika Amaral

The band recorded their debut album in 2013. Was produced Victim of Yourself by Heros Trench and Marcello Pompeu by Brazilian thrash metal band Korzus . In addition, the band played numerous concerts in Brazil as opening act for Exodus , Artillery , Exumer and Raven . The publication of Victim of Yourself on February 28, 2014. This was followed by an extensive tour through South America. In the summer of 2015 Nervosa played their first concerts in Europe as a support act for Hirax and appeared at the Summer Breeze and Metaldays festivals, among others .

Agony and Downfall of Mankind

The recordings for the second studio album began in January 2016. The band flew to the USA for the recordings . The album was produced by Brendan Duffey, mixing and mastering was done by Andy Classen . In the spring of 2016, the band played their first concerts in the USA before the second studio album Agony was released on June 3, 2016 . A month later, drummer Pitchu Ferraz left the band and is temporarily represented by Canadian Samantha Landa. After appearing at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in autumn 2016, a European tour followed with Destruction , Flotsam and Jetsam and Enforcer . In March 2017, the band introduced Luana Dametto as the new drummer. In addition to Nervosa, Dametto is also active with Apophizys .

With producer Martin Furia, the band recorded their third studio album Downfall of Mankind from February 2018 , which was released on June 1, 2018. Guest musicians are João Gordo from the band Ratos de Porão , Rodrigo Oliveira from the band Korzus and Michael Gilbert from the band Flotsam and Jetsam. Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto left the band in April 2020 and founded the group Crypta with guitarist Sonia Nusselder ( Burning Witches ) . The musicians were replaced by the singer Diva Satanica, the bassist Mia Wallace and the drummer Eleni Nota.

style

Nervosa play fast, classic Thrash Metal. Reinhold Reither from the Austrian online magazine Stormbringer compared the Nervosa debut album with the early works of Kreator ( Pleasure to Kill ) and Destruction ( Infernal Overkill ). In addition, comparisons were made with bands such as Slayer , early Sepultura , Exodus or the Suicidal Angels . The texts deal with social problems in Brazil such as B. Corruption and Politics .
