The Association of State Monument Preservators (VdL) is an amalgamation of the German State Monument Offices that took place in 1951 under the umbrella of the Conference of Ministers of Education .

tasks and goals

The organization deals with matters relating to the preservation of historical monuments of international importance and ensures nationwide professional coordination. The Association of State Monuments Offices carries out orders from the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.

organization

The Association of State Monument Preservators is headed by the Heads Conference, in which the heads of the 18 State Monument Offices are represented. The chairman is Markus Harzenetter , head of the State Office for Monument Preservation in Hesse.

The association works in specialized working groups, to which each state monument office sends representatives. These deal with technical issues, prepare publications and hold events.

Publications

The organization provides extensive information material on issues relating to the preservation of monuments. Current information and scientific articles can be found in the biannual magazine Die Denkmalpflege . The Association of State Monument Preservators is co-editor of Dehio , the handbook of German art monuments.
