Korzus is a Brazilian thrash metal band from São Paulo that was formed in 1983.
history
The band was founded in 1983 by singer Marcello Pompeu, guitarist Silvio Golfetti and bassist Dick Siebert. A little later guitarist Marcello Nicastro and drummer Zema Paes joined the band. In the following years the band released a demo, a live album and a split album. In 1987, Sonho Maniaco released her first studio album. In the years that followed, the line-up on both guitars and drums changed frequently. The next two album releases followed with Mass Illusion in 1991 and KZS in 1995. This was followed by tours through Europe and the USA . In 2000, another live album was released. The next studio album followed with Ties of Blood in 2004. The album featured guitarist Heros Trench and drummer Rodrigo Oliveira for the first time, as well as guest musicians such as Andreas Kisser ( Sepultura ), Andre Matos (ex- Shaman , Angra , Viper ), João Gordo and Boka ( Ratos de Porão ).
After the release, the band went on various tours. In early 2008 guitarist Silvio Golfetti left and was replaced by Antonio Araujo. Jägermeister became aware of the band and named Korzus as their first “hunter band” from Brazil. As a result, they achieved appearances with Slayer , Epica and Killswitch Engage . The band then worked on new material and began recording in 2009. The new album, called Discipline of Hate , was mixed and mastered at Mr. Som Studio in March 2010. In May 2010 the band signed a contract with the German label AFM Records .
In February 2011 the band went on a tour of Europe to support Ektomorf on their Road to Redemption tour . The band was also confirmed for the Rock in Rio .
style
Korzus play classic Thrash Metal. Initially, this was kept simple and the texts were written in their native Portuguese. Since the EP Pay for your Lies , the lyrics are in English and the songs are more melodic.
