His main work are the panel paintings in the coffered ceiling of the Hof Hospital Church . They consist of 90 picture panels that Lohe painted in 1688 at the suggestion of the pastor Nikolaus Meyer. From July 24, 1688 to August 20, 1689, Heinrich Andreas Lohe, his son Heinrich Matthäus Lohe, the journeymen Johann Zimmermann and Martin Jacobi made the 90 pictures. The pictures contain the Bible passages and the names of the respective donors. The representations of stories from the Old and New Testament are closely based on the pictures by Matthäus Merian the Elder . Ä. , partly to the copperplate engravings by the Dutchman Cornelius Vischer , with which an Osiander Bible, a pure text Bible from the Stern publishing house, Lüneburg, with comments by Lukas Osiander the Elder. Ä. from 1665 was provided. This Osiander Bible was donated by Johann Friedrich Gewandschneider, a distinguished trader in Leipzig, for the Michaeliskirche . His heirs had them decorated with pictures of Vischer and covered with silver and handed them over to Christian Haß, mayor and distinguished trader in Hof for the Hof church library on July 1, 1687.

Lohe's work met with such approval that in 1689 he was commissioned to equip the upper gallery of the church with 16 panels depicting the Passion . He made further paintings in the Hauptmannsempore (1694). There he designed the margrave's coat of arms and two images of the evangelists on the left and right. In 1711 he was commissioned to paint the organ gallery with pictures of angels making music ( cherubim ).

Heinrich Andreas Lohe probably also made other church paintings in the Hof area and some portraits, including two paintings in the St. Lorenz Church : the portraits of superintendent Joseph Friedrich Seussinger von Waldeck and superintendent Johann Christoph Hösel as well as a portrait of Anna Margarethe von Pühel at Döhlau Castle . Several times he painted works in the Knoll art workshop .

He is the father of Heinrich Matthäus Lohe and thus the progenitor of the Hofer Lohe family of painters.
