Ratos de Porão ( pt .: basement rats) is a Brazilian band from São Paulo that was formed in 1981.

history

The band was formed in 1981. The following year the band took part in the recordings for the split release Sub . The band was represented on the sound carrier released in 1983 with six songs. Several concerts followed after the recordings. In 1984, after João "João Gordo" Francisco Benedan joined the band as the new singer, the group released their debut album Crucificados Pelo Sistema . 1985 followed a live split release with Cólera called Ratos de Porao e Cólera Ao Vivo . The following year the second album Descanse em Paz was released , with guitarist Joăo "Jão" Carlos Molina Esteves and drummer Nelson "Spaghetti" Evangelista Jr. as new members. The next album followed in 1987 and was called Vivendo Cada Dia Mais Sujo e Agressivo . The band gained increased attention, which resulted in a contract with Roadrunner Records . The album Brasil was released on this label in 1989 and the album Anarkophobia a year later . Both albums were recorded in Berlin . In 1992 the first live album RDP Ao Vivo was released via Eldorado Records . In 1993, the next album then called Another Crime ... In Massacreland . The next album followed in 1995, Feijoada Acidente? , an album on which only cover versions could be heard. The sound carrier was released in two versions: one focused exclusively on Brazilian artists, while the other covered international bands. After the contract with Roadrunner Records had expired in 1995, the album Carniceria Tropical was released in 1997 . In 2001 the band reached a contract with Alternative Tentacles Records . In the same year the album Sistemados pelo Crucifa was released on this label . In 2002, the group separated from this label after Onisciente Colectivo was released. This was followed by an appearance in the CBGB in the USA . The concert was recorded and released as a live album in 2003 under the name Ao Vivo no CBGB . In 2006 the album Homem Inimigo Do Homem was released and in 2014 the so far last album Século Sinistro .

style

The band developed from an initially pure hardcore punk band to a band that plays a mixture of thrash metal and hardcore punk, with the electric guitars having a slight death metal sound.
