Heinz Dieter Tschörtner

Heinz Dieter Tschörtner (born July 1, 1932 in Mühlhausen ) is a German publishing editor, author and editor.

Life

Tschörtner grew up in Mühlhausen and passed his Abitur there. In 1953 he moved to Babelsberg with his family . After his training, he worked as a librarian in Mühlhausen, Erfurt and Halle , before working as an editor and lecturer at the Volk und Welt publishing house in Berlin from 1959 . There he was editor of the publishing magazine Der Bücherkarren and, since 1962, of the Roman newspaper, which has been printed in large numbers . As editor, among other things, he was responsible for an edition of Werner Steinberg's works by Mitteldeutscher Verlag ( Selected Works , 1976–1988).

Since the 1960s Tschörtner has published numerous selections of works, specialist articles and bibliographies on Gerhart Hauptmann . He published a biography of Hauptmann in 1995. Tschörtner was for many years treasurer of the Gerhart Hauptmann Society in Erkner, founded in 1952, and has been the publisher of the half-yearly Gerhart Hauptmann papers since 1999 .

Tschörtner lives in Berlin-Lichtenberg . His wife Ilse Tschörtner also worked as an editor, translator and post-poet for Soviet authors such as Viktor Astafjew , Daniil Charms , Weniamin Kawerin , Vladimir Solouchin and Tatjana Tolstaja . His daughter was the documentary film director Petra Tschörtner (1958–2012).
