The Gerhart-Hauptmann-Gesellschaft e. V. is a literary-scientific society based in Berlin , which was founded in 1952 in Baden-Baden . The non-profit association pursues the goal of “ bringing Gerhart Hauptmann's work and personality closer to people and cultivating the literature and research associated with him and his contemporaries” (from the statutes). The first president was the lawyer and writer Carl Haensel . Since 1981 the book series of publications of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Gesellschaft has been published by Erich Schmidt Verlag . a. contains the international bibliography on the work of Gerhart Hauptmann by Sigfrid Hoefert. 1. Chairman of the association is Wolfgang de Bruyn , 2. Chairman Stefan Rohlfs (Erkner).
