Tatiana Tolstaya

Tatjana Nikititschna Tolstaja ( Russian Татьяна Никитична Толстая , scientific transliteration Tatjana Nikitična Tolstaja ; born May 3, 1951 in Leningrad ) is a Russian writer .

She studied classical philology and worked as a lecturer. In 1987 her first volume of short stories was published in Moscow , which made her famous in one fell swoop. Tolstaya spent a long time in the USA . Today she lives again in Russia, where she hosted the talk show Schkola sloslowija ( Шко́ла злосло́вия / "School of Blasphemy") from 2002 to 2014 . The author, whose works are published in Germany under the name Tatjana Tolstaja, comes from a noble family of writers and is a granddaughter of Alexei Nikolajewitsch Tolstoy .
