Christiane Körner
Christiane Körner (* 1962 in Recklinghausen ) is a German literary translator from Russian.
life and work
Körner studied German , Slavic and political science at the Universities of Cologne and Frankfurt am Main . She was 1990-1993 DAAD - Lecturer in Moscow. She has been a freelance translator from Russian since 1999 . a. Works by Lev Tolstoy , Dmitri Prigow , Vladimir Sorokin and Nadeschda Mandelstam translated into German.
Körner primarily translates fiction , essays , non-fiction , art literature and fairy tales , with a particular interest in contemporary literature , fantastic literature and slang texts .
In 2013, Körner ran a "Russian-German workshop for literary translators" from the "ViceVersa" series, the German Translation Fund, together with Irina Alexejewa in Straelen . A European College of Translators , EÜK, was the coordinator, the Goethe Institute Moscow was involved. Another such ViceVersa workshop took place in August 2017 again in Straelen EÜK.
Körner is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ. She lives in Frankfurt am Main .
Honors

Paul Celan Prize 2017 for outstanding translations as a complete work; In addition, the jury honored the translation of the monumental fragment of the novel The Puppies by Pawel Salzman, published in 2016 , through which Körner succeeds in an admirable manner in reproducing a completely new, cinematic over-precise, perspective splintered language with an almost painful depth of focus in a virtuoso and highly poetic manner.
