Sabine Baumann
Sabine Baumann (born October 27, 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German publishing editor and literary translator .
Life
Sabine Baumann studied English , American and Slavic studies at universities in Frankfurt am Main , Bloomington and New York . In 1998 she received her doctorate from the University of Frankfurt with a thesis on Vladimir Nabokov's translation work . She then worked as an editor for various German publishers. She also gave lectures on English and Eastern European literature at the University of Frankfurt. Since 2009 she has been working as an editor at Schöffling-Verlag in Frankfurt .
In addition to her work as a lecturer, Sabine Baumann translates from English and Russian into German . For her translations of Puškin's epic Eugen Onegin and Vladimir Nabokov's commentary on this work, she received the 2010 Translation Prize from the Kunststiftung NRW .
She is also a member of the PEN Center Germany and of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ, for which she has been editor-in-chief of the trade journal Translate since 2008 .
Baumann has been chairwoman of the Frankfurt Reads a Book Association since August 2017 .
