Frankfurt is reading a book

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frankfurt reads a book is a reading festival that has been held in Frankfurt am Main every April since 2010 . It is organized and initiated by the Frankfurt Reads a Book Association. The idea for the reading festival comes from the Frankfurt publisher Klaus Schöffling . The aim of the campaign is to "make a book a topic of conversation and a communal experience for everyone in the city of Frankfurt am Main" every year. The program includes around 100 public events each year, including readings, exhibitions, guided tours, as well as film and theater performances. From 2010 to 2017 a total of almost 100,000 visitors took part. All the books selected so far are novels set in Frankfurt in the 20th century. In 2016 the project was awarded the BKM Prize for Cultural Education . Sabine Baumann has been the chairwoman of the association since August 30, 2017 , Silke Haug is the vice chairwoman, and Hildegard Upgang has been treasurer since August 2019.
