Communic is a Norwegian progressive / power metal band. The style of the band is considered to be strongly influenced by Nevermore .
Band history
Until the end of 2002 singer and guitarist Oddleif Stensland and bassist Erik Mortensen played together in a band called Ingermanland . After their dissolution, Stensland founded Communic together with Tor Atle Andersen , the drummer of his second band Scariot in 2003 . Shortly after the formation, Mortensen completed the formation, which then recorded their first demo, comprising three tracks, on their own in spring 2004 . This had a print run of just 100 copies and was named "Demo of the Month" by Rock Hard magazine in April 2004 . In July of that year the band signed a record deal with the German label Nuclear Blast and in September went to the Danish Jacob Hansen Studios to record the debut album Conspiracy In Mind . The Danish keyboardist Peter Jensen joined the band for the recordings and the tour that followed in 2005 . However, he was never permanently employed due to the limited trial opportunities with the members residing in Norway . The resulting album received excellent reviews worldwide and prompted the readers of rock-hard magazine to vote Communic "Newcomer of the Year". The Norwegians played their first tour, which took the band across Europe, as a support act for Ensiferum and Graveworm . According to their own statements, the band sees the performance at the Gelsenkirchen Rock Hard Festival as the highlight of the tour .
The second album, entitled Waves Of Visual Decay , was recorded with the assistance of Norwegian keyboardist Endre Kirkesola and again produced by Jacob Hansen in Denmark. It was released on May 19, 2006 and, like the previous album, received a lot of praise from the international trade press (album of the month in Metal Hammer and in Rock-Hard magazine).
