Hevein is a Finnish metal band from Helsinki .
The combination of the typical Thrash Metal instrumentation with classical instruments (violin and cello) is characteristic of the band's sound .
history
Hevein was founded in 1992 by Leif Hedström and Alpo Oksaharju as a sideline. In the first few years they mainly worked on developing their own songs and played cover versions (including of Pantera ). In 1998 Tomi Koivunen joined the band and shortly afterwards Aino Piipari ( Kiova ). The first demos were recorded.
The band was not completed until Max Lilja (Ex- Apocalyptica , Tekija Tuntematon , Jo Hope ) joined in 2002 and Juha Immonen in 2003. In October 2004 they signed a record deal with the Spinefarm Records label. After the expansion of the band by bassist Janne Jaakkola ( 7th Labyrinth ), the debut album Sound Over Matter was released in Finland in autumn 2005 , which was also released internationally in summer 2006. The artwork for the album was created by drummer Alpo.
In November 2007, work began on the new album Gentle Anarchy . At the end of March 2008, founding member Alpo left the band and Otto Outila took his place. At the end of November 2008, the band and Spinefarm Records separated from each other. Toni Paananen later replaces Otto Outila. The band announced this on October 7, 2011.
