Warhawk is a third-person shooter for the PlayStation 3 . It was released in the fall of 2007 by Incognito Studio and is a remake of a PlayStation game of the same name from 1995. In contrast to the original, the 2007 version offers a multiplayer mode . The game could be sold about 550,000 times.

In Warhawk, the player embodies a recruit who can work as a fighter pilot, tank commander or foot soldier. Warhawk is set in modern times and reflects the conflict between two imaginary races. Warhawk is a pure multiplayer game that is played mainly over the Internet. It was only released for the Playstation 3. There are very few maps, but depending on the number of players on the servers (up to 16 players per team) are only partially used. In 2011 the developers of Warhawk announced the production of a sequel called "Starhawk". This takes place in the future on a strange planet and offers the player some new possibilities. For example, you can choose to place different buildings with different functions on the playing field and thus actively participate in the design of the same. In addition, new vehicles and weapons are available to the players. In contrast to "Warhawk", "Starhawk" also offers the option of playing a solo campaign; the game is no longer a pure multiplayer game. On January 18, 2012, Sony announced May 8, 2012 as the release date in the US. In Europe, the game was released on May 11, 2012.
Some selected players were invited by Sony to participate in a non-public beta test of the game from November 22, 2011. In January 2012, it was gradually made possible for more players to download and play this beta version from the Internet. Starting February 22, 2012, all PSN members were able to test the beta version of Starhawk.
