Alkehol is a Czech rock band from Prague , which was founded in 1992 by Ota Hereš and Petr "Kuna" Buneš. The texts are written in Czech and are mainly about alcohol consumption .

history

Ota Hereš (born June 23, 1965) had already co-founded the black metal band Törr , which still exists today, in 1977 and joined the thrash metal band Kryptor in 1990 , where Petr Buneš (born February 11, 1968) played guitar.

In November 1991 the two decided to start a rock band with lyrics about their drinking as a side project . After numerous visits to her local pub in Prague, Na Slamníku , the demo tape Hospodo nalejvej was completed in January 1992 with the help of friends and acquaintances .

Within a week, this led to a contract with the record label Monitor , and in April the debut album Alkehol was recorded in the Propast studio together with Filip Robovski, Lou Fanánek Hagen and a drum computer .

Released in June, it quickly made it into the top 20 of the Czechoslovak TV charts, and due to the great demand for the band's concerts, ex-Törr drummer Martin Melmus (born January 22, 1969) and the guitarist of Band Brian , Tonda Rauer (born March 10, 1968), who took over the bass.

Despite initially bad press reviews, the interest of the fans was great, and so in September 1993 the second album S úsměvem se pije líp hit the record stores. The increasing popularity led to Alkehol - two years after the first beersy preparations - performing on November 25, 1993 in the sold-out Lucerna in Prague . In the following years the band gave hundreds of concerts in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, appeared at various festivals and released a new album practically every year.

Drummer Martin Melmus was replaced by Radek Sladký in 2015, and Tonda Rauer left Alkehol in 2017 to concentrate more on his engagement with the band Harlej . His successor on bass was Jan "Bart" Bartoš. Like Ota Hereš, the two new band members are also active at Törr .

No new album has been released since then, but the band continues to perform at concerts with the new line-up.
