Kryptor is a Czech thrash metal band from Prague , which was founded in 1987, disbanded in 1997 and has been active again since 2002.

history

The band was founded in 1987 by the bassist Filip Robovski aka "The Kryptmaster" aka "Phill Von Kryptor". The line-up was initially supplemented by the singer Michal Roháček, the guitarists Petr "Kuna" Buneš and Tomáš Roháček and the drummer Robert Stýblo. A short time later, Roháček left the group and was replaced by Marcel "Pípa" Novotný. In 1989, Plaček left Kryptor, whereupon Ota Hereš came on as a replacement the following year. In 1990 Tomas Roháček also left the group before the album Septical Anaesthesia , produced by Miloš 'Dodo' Doležal , was released the following year . In the same year, the second album, called Time 4 Crime , followed, after which Pavel “Péká” Konvalinka can be heard as the new drummer. For the further course of the 1990s, the line-up continued to change frequently, with Daniel Krob joining as a new guitarist in 1993. In the same year, Greedpeace joined the group's first English-language album. The 1994 album United & Live , which was produced by Radim Hladík , contains not only studio recordings but also six live recordings that were recorded at the ZubrFest . In 1994 and 1995 Petr "Škvarek" Škarvada and Petr "Šimi" Šimáček took over the electric guitars. From 1995 to 1997 Leoš Holan was a guitarist in the cast. The post of drummer also changed frequently: The post was initially filled by Alan Reisich in 1993, before Marek Kraus took over in 1994. In 1996 and 1997, the year the band split up, Libor Fanta played the drums. In 1997 the live album Na východní frontě boj! , which was recorded in Košice in 1996 . In addition, a bootleg live album was released in 1999 under the name Největší průser , which was recorded in Tachov in 1994 . The band has been active again since 2002. In 2011 the compilation Neřest A Ctnost (Vice And Virtue) - demo 1988 - was released , which was followed by another one under the name Best of Fuck Off !!! connected.

style

Roland Silberhorn wrote in the book Heavy Metal from Eastern Europe that the band played on the debut album so amateurishly that you could hardly listen to it in one go. The group then offers aggressive Thrash Metal influenced by punk . On Time 4 Crime , the group is a bit more demanding, so that Sepultura's schizophrenia can be used as a comparison. With Greedpeace one has further increased, whereby the texts are for the first time in English. Furthermore, there is a powerful sound, more well thought-out song structures and good singing. Overall, the album could be described as a mixture of Sepultura's Arise and Warpath's Massive . United & Live is no longer as aggressive as its predecessor. Götz Kühnemund from Rock Hard found that the band plays Crime Thrash Metal on Time 4 , which is internationally competitive. Textually one deals with the increasing crime in Czechoslovakia and also addresses right-wing extremism . Kühnemund summarized the music as a mixture of Sepultura and older Running Wild , with a stronger emphasis on the Thrash Metal part, which can also be seen in the production.
