Chrudim II , formerly Nové Město (German Neustadt ) is a district of the city of Chrudim in the Czech Republic . It is located southeast of the city center of Chrudim and belongs to the Okres Chrudim .

geography

Chrudim II extends to the right over the Chrudimka valley on the Hrochotýnecká tabule ( Hrochow-Teinitzer Tafel ). The state road I / 17 between Heřmanův Městec and Hrochův Týnec runs through Chrudim II and crosses the state road I / 37 between Pardubice and Slatiňany east of the district .

Neighboring towns are Chrudim IV and Májov in the north, Na Pumberkách and Topol in the northeast, Kočí in the east, Tři Bubny and Vlčnov in the southeast, Píšťovy, Slatiňany and Říště in the south, Chrudim III in the southwest, Kateřinské předměstí in the west and Chrudim I in the north.

history

The Chrudimer Michaels-Vorstadt was created in the course of the expansion of the royal district and personal property city of Chrudim on the plateau southeast of the old town. Between 1518 and 1521 the church of the Archangel Michael was built on the Chrudim cemetery as a municipal burial church. The Capuchin monastery with the St. Joseph Church was founded and built in 1656 by the Kuttenberg primator Georg Wykročil von Bilenberg.

In 1835 the Neustadt or Michaels-Vorstadt consisted of 217 houses with 588 inhabitants. The one-shift press was conscripted for Neustadt . The church of St. Michael with the church, the Capuchin monastery with the church of St. Joseph and the aqueduct were in the Neustadt . The suburb to the dean church was parish .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Nove Mesto / Neustadt an area of the district town of Chrudim. From 1868 the district belonged to the new district Chrudim . In 1869 Nové Město had 2505 inhabitants. In 1900, 3362 people lived in the suburb, ten years later there were 3720. In 1930 Nové Město had 3213 inhabitants. On July 6, 1949, the Capuchin monastery was closed. In the course of the restructuring of the city of Chrudim, the district Chrudim II was created in March 1980. In 2001 there were 5,541 people living in the 917 houses of Chrudim II.

The district Chrudim II consists of the basic settlement units Družstevní, Chrudim-střed, Kateřinské Předměstí, Nad Vlčí Horou, Nové Město, Obchodní zóna, Stromovka, Topolská and Vlčí Hora. Chrudim II also includes the Na Špici, Presy and V Lindách residential areas.

Chrudim II is part of the Chrudim cadastral district .

Attractions

  • Former Capuchin Church of St. Joseph, it has served as a museum of baroque statues since 2011 ( Muzeum barokních soch ). Under the church there is a holy grave with life-size figures of the Passion of Christ.

  • Church of St. Michael, built 1518–21 as a burial church. The high altar sheet was created by Joseph Ceregetti, who donated it to the city in 1758. In the church there are tombs of Michael Ludwig von Alvernia († 1678), Heinrich Bonaventura von Alvernia († 1686), Eustach Landek von Trauenstein († 1606) and Christoph Raupowetz von Raupow († 1596).
  • Ziegler Gardens ( Zieglerovy sady ), the park was built in place of the old cemetery around St. Michael's Church, which was closed in 1881.
