history
The first written mention of the one-shift St. Markus was in 1349. On the hill above the village there was a church dedicated to St. St. Mark's Romanesque chapel, which was mentioned as a plebany in 1350. Since the 16th century Markovice belonged to the allodial estate Morašice with Třibřichy . At the beginning of the 17th century there was a division of property in which Jan Hamza Bořek von Zábědovice received the Třibřichy estate including the patronage of the Church of St. Mark. The parish became extinct during the Thirty Years' War. In 1676 the church became a branch church of the parish Chrudim , the patronage of the church was taken over by the landlady of Mezilesice , Eva Lidmila von Waldstein . Ferdinand Adam Kustoš von Zubří and Lipka separated the goods Lipka and Třibřichy from the Mezilesice estate in 1715 and sold them to his sister Maria Elisabeth Countess Millesimo, who sold them to Count Franz Josef von Schönfeld in 1721 . Schönfeld struck both estates of his rule Nassaberg . Franz Josef von Schönfeld had the old church demolished in 1732 and replaced with a large baroque building. In 1753 the Counts of Auersperg inherited the Nassaberg rule. In the 18th century the village of Markowitz was built below the church on Chrudimer Straße .
In 1835 the village of Markowitz , located in the Chrudim district on the Chaussee from Prague to Chrudim, consisted of 10 houses in which 71 people lived. Eight houses belonged to the Nassaberg rule, two to the Heřmanmiestetz rule . Outside the village was the branch church of St. Mark on a hill. The parish was Chrudim . Until the middle of the 19th century, Markowitz remained partially subject to the allodial lords Nassaberg and Heřmanmiestetz.
After the abolition of patrimonial Markovice formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Třibřichy in the judicial district Chrudim . From 1868 the village belonged to the Chrudim district . In the 1921 census, there were 110 people in the 12 houses in Markovice. In 1964 the municipalities Dřenice and Třibřichy merged to form a municipality Dřenice-Třibřichy. At the beginning of 1974 the community Dřenice-Třibřichy was abolished and the associated villages Dřenice, Markovice and Třibřichy incorporated into Bylany . A year later Markovice was reassigned to Chrudim. To the west and east of the church were built near housing estates in the second half of the 20th century.
Local division
The basic settlement unit Markovice belongs to the district Chrudim IV of the city Chrudim. Markovice is part of the Chrudim cadastral district.
Attractions
- Baroque Church of St. Markus, it was built in 1732 in place of a previous Romanesque building. In 1745 the vault of the new church collapsed. After the reconstruction, the church burned down in 1771 after a lightning strike. In the course of the restoration, the church received a new main altar with the image of the patron saint, which probably comes from the Chrudim Church of St. John the Baptist. At the beginning of the 20th century, the neo-baroque bell tower was added to the west facade. The church is surrounded by a large cemetery.
