Emergency Gate ( Engl . For emergency exit ) is a German metal band from Kirchseeon near Munich whose style the Swedish melodic death metal is to be allocated.

history

Emergency Gate was founded in 1995 as a power metal group. The first line-up included Fabian Kießling and Mario Lochert. After many years in the underground and a self-titled in-house production, they signed a record deal with The Electric Co., a sub-label of Universal Records , in 2005 .

The first album Nightly Ray was released in mid-2006, but initially only in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux and the USA. In the Benelux countries, the five musicians were even able to fight their way up to the top of the heavy radio charts. Production was done by Spike Streefkerk , who had previously worked with Phil Collins and Melissa Etheridge . The album also features a cover version of Falco's Rock Me Amadeus . The band said goodbye to the earlier Power Metal , instead the album is more of a mixture of Nu Metal and Hard Rock with vocals reminiscent of James Hetfield from Metallica . Then drummer Stefan Paster got out and was replaced by Chris Widmann from Stormhammer . The group toured with the Danish band Mercenary , where they won and signed contracts with SAD , Schecter Guitar Research and Agner Drumsticks , among others . In 2007 The Electric Co. terminated their contract with Universal Records and released Emergency Gate from their contract. Guitarist and singer Fabian Kießling left the band. Despite this situation, the rest of the group continued to work on new material. On a tour as a sound engineer for / with Paradise Lost (band) , Mario Lochert met Matthias Kupka, who was a singer with Suidakra until 2005 . In March 2008, Kupka finally completed the group's line-up and sang the already finished songs from the second album. The group finally promoted themselves via YouTube and was able to sign a contract with the independent label Silverwolf Productions .

The album Rewake , released in 2009, was based heavily on Swedish melodic death metal bands such as At the Gates or In Flames . The band is much heavier here, the vocals now alternate between guttural and normal vocals. The group then went on a two-month European tour with Kreator , Caliban and Eluveitie , where they played around 30 countries.

On November 21, 2009 Chris Widmann left the group and was replaced by Dominik Scholz (session drummer for Lacrimas Profundere and formerly with Zoo Army ).

On April 30, 2010 the new album The Nemesis Construct was released. The long player is a consistent continuation of the earlier work: catchy melodies, progressive song structures that have distinguished Rewake , combined with brutal heaviness and complex, arranged, electronic soundscape. With a new line-up, Emergency Gate can further exploit their musical potential, which is underlined by the high-class production of the album. Ralf W. ( Metallica , Slayer , Iron Maiden etc.) was called in for the cover, and Tom Englund - front man of the Swedish metal band Evergrey - could be won over for a song.

On November 23, 2013 Emergency Gate presented their new drummer Roman Lutz at the Metal Aid Festival in Hückelhoven .

During the songwriting for the following album, the band decided to record an EP with six never-released tracks from their past. Remembrance - The Early Days was released shortly before Christmas 2013 and was primarily intended as a "treat" for fans from the very beginning.

Before the recordings of the fifth album You began, the band played at the Metalfest festivals in 2012 and made an impressive return on the stages of Europe. After this tidbit, there was only one topic left for Emergency Gate: the next album.

You was released on January 25, 2013 via Zyx Music and received very positive reactions worldwide. Emergency Gate is looking forward to presenting the new pieces, including the festival anthem Moshpit , at many summer festivals.

On November 22nd, 2013 Emergency Gate presented their new single What Is Love , which they sang together with Haddaway . In addition to the normal version, there is also an instrumental version and a version without Haddaway.

The album Infected was released on September 26, 2014 .
