Zoo Army (English for "Zoo Army") is a German alternative rock group from Munich , whose lead singers are the brothers Gil Ofarim and Tal Ofarim (sons of the Israeli singer Abi Ofarim ). The band's song I'm Alive was featured in the 2006 two-part TV series Die Sturmflut . The band name is an allusion to the drawers in which the artists feel temporarily stuck and locked.

history

Zoo Army was founded on May 24, 2005 by Gil Ofarim ( vocals / guitar ), Tal Ofarim (vocals / bass ), Uli Gollick (guitar) and Dominik Scholz (drums). The members all come from the Munich rock scene.

Gil Ofarim has been a musician for over 20 years and has already sold over five million records worldwide. He is an actor , musical actor and voice actor and also works as a model and testimonial . In 2010 he founded his own label with Neuzeitstürmer in order to bring out the songs he wrote himself exactly as he had composed them and thus to prove his talent as a songwriter and composer.

Tal Ofarim, who in 2013 - like Gil Ofarim last year - took part in the TV show The Voice of Germany , had already made music with his brother before joining Zoo Army. At that time he was still performing solo as Gil Ofarim.

At the end of 2005, Roland Söns joined the band as guitarist in place of Uli Gollick.

Zoo Army performed on December 8, 2005 in Cologne as part of the WDR broadcast Rockpalast before their first album, 507 , was released on March 10, 2006 . The band's single I'm Alive , released in the same year, was featured in the two-part TV series Die Sturmflut . In March 2006 Zoo Army went on tour. Further appearances took place at festivals such as Bochum Total . Zoo Army also appeared several times as the opening act for the Swiss band Gotthard .

Dominik Scholz, who has already played as a drummer in the band of German rocker Joachim Deutschland , left the band in July 2008 for personal reasons.
