Sir Percy Cox, 1916

Sir Percy Zachariah Cox GCMG , GCIE , KCSI (born November 20, 1864 in Herongate , Essex , † February 20, 1937 in Melchbourne , Bedfordshire ) was a British commander and diplomat of the British Mandate Mesopotamia .

He established the Iraqi army and constitution. From 1920 he took over the post of Sir Arnold Wilson in Baghdad as British Civil Commissioner (German British civil commissioner) .

He later became Minister of the Political Service in Tehran . He replaced Sir Charles Marling with it. During his tenure, he signed the Anglo-Iranian treaty of 1919 .

After completing his term in office, he campaigned for an autonomous state of Kuwait .
