The Dead Daisies are one in 2,012 Sydney Founded Australian - American hard rock - band . After numerous line-up changes, the group now consists almost exclusively of well-known American musicians of the genre, the only remaining founding member is the guitarist David Lowy.

history

The Dead Daisies were founded in 2012 by Jon Stevens and David Lowy. The singer and guitarist got together after the former INXS manager David Edwards introduced them to each other.

The self-titled debut album was recorded in 2012 at Wishbone Studios in Los Angeles under the direction of American producer and sound engineer John Fields. It was released on August 9, 2013 in the US and November 2013 in Europe. The song Lock N 'Load , written and recorded with Slash , was released as the first single .

The group got the chance to open up for bands like ZZ Top in the United States and Aerosmith in Australia and New Zealand in 2013 . These concerts were played with the first full line-up of the group, consisting of Lowy, Stevens, drummer Frank Ferrer , guitarist Richard Fortus , bassist Marco Mendoza ( Whitesnake / Thin Lizzy ) and keyboardist Dizzy Reed ( Guns N 'Roses ). In autumn 2013 the band played for the first time in Great Britain and Israel . At that point, Frank Ferrer and Marco Mendoza had been replaced by Charley Drayton and Darryl Jones .

In February 2014, Mendoza returned to the group, and John Tempesta ( The Cult ) took over the drums. In this formation the band headlined on a tour through Australia. Further tours followed, including supporting acts for Bad Company , Lynyrd Skynyrd , Jimmy Barnes , Kiss and Def Leppard , before the band became the first Western rock group to appear in the Caribbean state since the USA's trade relations with Cuba were loosened in February 2015. During this tour, John Corabi appeared as a singer with the band because Stevens was unable to perform. Brian Tichy joined the group as a drummer .

With Corabi, the recordings for the second studio album Revolución began in February 2015, which took place in Cuba with producer Ben Grosse ( Marilyn Manson , Sevendust ). They were then completed in Australia with Craig Porteils, and the album was released on June 12, 2015. In Germany, the band opened for KISS in 2015.

On April 16, 2015, the band announced that Corabi would stay with the group as a singer and that Stevens would no longer be a member of the band.

On January 28, 2016 it was announced that Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed had left the band. Both had been part of the group since 2013. They were replaced by Doug Aldrich , who immediately took part in the recordings for the group's third album, which took place in Nashville with producer Marti Frederiksen (including Aerosmith, Gavin Rossdale, Buckcherry). The album was named Make Some Noise and was released on August 5th, 2016. Immediately after the recordings, The Dead Daisies performed daily at the Frankfurt Musikmesse from April 7th to 10th .

Shortly before the album was released, the band went on tour in Germany with The New Roses , and they also performed at the Hessentag in Herborn , the Wacken Open Air and the Bang Your Head Festival.

In August 2019 John Corabi and Marco Mendoza left the band to devote themselves to solo projects. The new singer and bassist is Glenn Hughes ( Black Country Communion , ex- Deep Purple ).
