Brian Tichy

Brian Thomas Tichy (born August 18, 1968 in Denville , New Jersey ) is an American musician and songwriter . His main instrument is the drums , but he also plays guitar and sings . He achieved greater fame from 2010 to 2013 as the drummer of Whitesnake , before that he was a member of Billy Idol's band and played for Foreigner and Ozzy Osbourne . He is currently the guitarist of his own band SUN , which also includes the Canadian singer Sass Jordan .

Career

Tichy began playing drums at the age of eight, and when he was 12 he also learned to play the guitar. From 1986 to 1990 he attended the Berklee College of Music . After graduation, he was touring drummer for numerous well-known artists including Billy Idol , Ozzy Osbourne , Seether , Velvet Revolver , Foreigner , Pride & Glory , Glenn Hughes , Slash's Snakepit and most recently Whitesnake .

He worked for Billy Idol from 2001, from 2004 also as a songwriter. This collaboration resulted in the album Devil's Playground , released in March 2005 , which contained a total of eight songs written by Idol and Tichy. While working on other titles that should appear on the next studio album Idols, the two artists recorded a music album with Christmas carols. Tichy played all the instruments for this album with the exception of the keyboards (these were played by Derek Sherinian ), and took on the tasks of sound engineer and co-producer. Happy Holidays, the title of the album, was released in November 2006.

The drummer played repeatedly for Foreigner, his first time in the band lasted from 1998 to 2000. In 2007 he temporarily replaced Jason Bonham in the band, of which he was again from 2008 to 2010. During this time he recorded the album Can't Slow Down with the group . In 2011, he jumped for a concert for the band to replace the regular drummer, Mark Schulman, when his father died. He last played with the group in August 2012 as a replacement for Schulman, who has now retired.

On June 18, 2010, the engagement of Tichys as the new drummer for the band Whitesnake was announced. He left the band in January 2013 to be more involved with his own band SUN. In addition, Tichy took part in another band project that was working on an album under the name "Sweet & Lynch". In addition to Tichy, this group includes guitarist George Lynch ( T&N , Dokken , Lynch Mob ), singer Michael Sweet ( Stryper ) and bassist James Lomenzo ( Megadeth , White Lion , Black Label Society ).
