Orden Ogan is a power - and folk metal - band that in 1996 in Arnsberg , North Rhine-Westphalia was established.

history

Orden Ogan at the Rockharz 2015 in Ballenstedt .

The band was founded in 1996 by Sebastian Levermann, Sebastian Grütling and bassist Sebastian Severin as Tanzende Aingewaide , but renamed itself to Orden Ogan a year later . They first released three demo tapes : Into Oblivion (1997), Anthem to the Darkside (1998) and Soli Deo Gloria (1999). In 2004 the CD Testimonium AD came out in self-distribution , on which the use of flutes , oboes and other wind instruments can be heard for the last time . In 2008 her first studio album Vale was released on the music label Yonah Records .

In October 2009 AFM Records announced that they had signed the band. In 2010 the album Easton Hope was released , to which a single of the same name was released. Music videos were also shot for Easton Hope and We Are Pirates (with guest artist Majk Moti ). We are Pirates was used by the TV broadcaster RTL to support a Formula 1 trailer. In contrast to Vale , Easton Hope is characterized by its complex orchestral arrangements, which according to their own statements did not come into their own.

In 2010 the band played at the Rock Hard Festival and the Wacken Open Air . Wacken also announced that the out of print album Vale will be re-released on November 11, 2010 by AFM Records . As a bonus, the Lords of the Flies music video will be included. At the end of the year the band first went on a European tour with the Swedish band Tiamat as support and then played a small series of concerts with Van Canto and Inlegend .

From March to April 2011, Orden Ogan were on tour as opening act with Grave Digger . In May 2011 it was announced that bassist Lars Schneider and later also drummer Sebastian Grütling had left the band for professional reasons. In June 2011, the former live bassist Niels Löffler was announced as a replacement on the band's Facebook page, Dirk Meyer-Berhorn followed a month later as the new drummer. In addition, keyboard player Nils Weise left the band due to musical differences, but is still involved in the band's studio productions.

The new Orden Ogan album To the End was released on October 26, 2012 on the AFM Records label. According to singer and guitarist "Seeb" Levermann the new album was "less bombastic" than its predecessor Easton Hope from the year 2010. With the release was the production of an elaborate video clip for the single The Things We Believe In accompanied that of Band also brought popularity. To the End entered the German album charts at number 41 . The album was followed by a European tour with Freedom Call and the Italian bands Vexillum and Luca Turilli's Rhapsody in November 2012 . In the summer of 2013 Orden Ogan played at other national festivals, including Summer Breeze , before international festivals such as the Trondheim Metal Fest in Norway and ProgPower USA followed as the band's first show in the United States the following year. Furthermore, Orden Ogan made guest appearances again in 2014 as support on some shows by Van Canto and Winterstorm .

In 2014, the band began work on the next studio album, Ravenhead , which was released in January 2015 and once again surpassed its predecessor with an entry at number 16 in the German album charts . The release was preceded by the single FEVER . In January 2015, Orden Ogan went on a European tour as support with Hammerfall and Serious Black . Another tour with Powerwolf was confirmed for the fall .

In March 2016, a box set called The Book of Ogan was released, in which a documentary about the band's history, two concerts, a best-of album called All These Dark Years - The Best Of 2008 - 2015 and a re-release of the demo Testimonium AD are included on two DVDs and two CDs. The release was accompanied by a tour of the same name with the support groups Almanac and Manimal.

On July 7, 2017, the band released their sixth album Gunmen .
