The Metal Opera Comes To Town Tour was the second world tour of Metal - Opera Avantasia by Tobias Sammet . It started on November 30, 2010 in Switzerland and ended on December 19, 2010 in Essen . For the first time there were several concerts in the same countries (Switzerland and Germany) on this tour. In addition, there was an appearance at the Wacken Open Air on August 6, 2011 , which officially also belonged to this tour. It should be the last Avantasia tour ever.

prehistory

In 2009, Sammet announced two new Avantasia albums, both of which should be released at the same time. These were the albums The Wicked Symphony and Angel Of Babylon , both of which were released in 2010 and together reached number 2 in the German album charts. In order to promote these albums in addition, Tobias Sammet went on an indoor tour with Avantasia for the first time in Germany and also played various gigs outside of Germany.

There were particularities in the selection of musicians: Michael Kiske , ex-singer of the band Helloween accompanied Avantasia. Since Kai Hansen was also there this time, they stood together on stage for the first time since Hansen's departure from Helloween in 1988.

The 2011 Wacken Open Air performance was broadcast live on German television by ZDFkultur . Tobias Sammet announced on stage that this would be the last Avantasia concert, which he revoked a year later.

This tour was Avantasia's shortest tour to date.
