Ferdy Doernberg

Ferdy Doernberg (born June 10, 1967 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a German singer / songwriter, keyboardist and guitarist who has played in numerous rock bands.

Life

Doernberg is the son of the evangelical pastor, violinist and composer Martin Doernberg . Ferdy Doernberg started his musical career in 1973 at the age of 6 with piano lessons. A few years later the guitar and trumpet were added. The first band that Doernberg worked with was the local punk band The Wabbles , before he founded the band Rough Silk in 1989 , with whom he has recorded eight albums to date and which supported Helloween , Deep Purple , Saxon , Whitesnake and was seen by others. Doernberg is also a permanent member of the bands of Axel Rudi Pell , with whom he has already recorded ten albums, and the ex- Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth. He also released his first solo album in November 1995, the second followed in 2000. In 2006 he released his new solo album "... 'till I run out of road", which finally established him as a singer / songwriter. Numerous solo concerts only with acoustic and slide guitar, etc. a. in the opening act of John Wesley Harding and Jeff Kollman, who both also appear on the album, let him mature as a solo artist. This is also reflected in the demanding and black-humored lyrics of the album.

In addition to his regular band engagements, Doernberg is a studio musician for keyboards and guitars who is in demand beyond the rock scene (special area: slide and lap steel guitar) and has worked on more than 100 albums of various genres.

On March 20, 2009, after a six-year hiatus , Rough Silk released A New Beginning .

Doernberg lives in Bad Nenndorf, Lower Saxony , where he runs his own studio called Droehnwerk , in which he has produced numerous albums by other musicians.

In spring 2011 Ferdy played with the former guitarist of the rock band Böhse Onkelz , Matt "Gonzo" Roehr, his third solo album, "Blitz und Donner", after he had previously worked on his single "For what it's worth".
