Sargant Fury was a hard rock band founded in Hanover in 1987 , which disbanded in 1995 after the release of three studio albums. The band name was the Marvel - comic series Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos loan, which was published from 1963 to 1981.

history

Sargant Fury was founded in 1987 by the musicians Bauke De Groot ( bass ), Olaf Grosser ( guitar ), Kai Steffen (guitar) and drummer Heiko Heike. The band, at the time still without a singer, recorded a demo tape entitled United States of Europe , which by chance came to Great Britain , where it was heard by Newcastle-based Andrew "Mac" McDermott , who offered his services to Sargant Fury and moved to Hanover. The 1991 debut album Still Want More got the group off to a good start, and they got the opportunity to support bands such as Thunderhead , Napalm , Ten Years After and Ian Gillan .

After releasing their second album, titled Little Fish , the group toured with Skew Siskin , Hittman and Mental Hippie Blood . Although the album received positive reviews, sales remained meager and the band lost their recording deal with WEA. Bauke De Groot left the band and a short time later joined the band Hate Squad . He was replaced by Carsten Rebentisch, who had previously played in the Hanover band Lawdy.

The band underwent a change of style and released her last album, Turn the Page, 1995. The album, which two cover versions ( Maniac by Michael Sembello and Can not Get Enough of Bad Company ), was essentially "of ballads carried songs and" dominated, "not much of the refreshing spontaneity remained". In the same year the band broke up, McDermott later became the singer of the progressive rock band Threshold and died on August 3, 2011 of kidney failure.

In 2009, Do you Remember: The Anthology was released, a box set that combines all three of the band's albums.
