history
The publication took place in May 1983. The song became a number one hit in the United States and Canada. In 1984 this song was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song , but was disqualified because it was not written specifically for the film. Instead, Irene Cara won the award with Flashdance… What a Feeling .
The song could be heard in films like American Pie and Dance Flick - The very last dance film . The song was also used in a Coca-Cola commercial.
Just like with the song Flashdance… What a Feeling , the video for Maniac also consists of scenes from Flashdance.
