Gabi Decker

Gabi Decker (born July 5, 1956 in Ratingen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German cabaret artist , presenter and singer .

Career

Gabi Decker grew up in Bokensdorf in Lower Saxony . She broke off training as a draftsman in Wolfsburg and as a travel agent in Braunschweig . In 1981 she went to Berlin. There she earned her living working as a waitress or housekeeper and performed at night as a jazz singer in bars, where she was discovered. Without much success she released three singles produced by Ralph Siegel's record company in 1983 and 1984 ( Under the shower , I'm going crazy and alone ).

From 1985 to 1994 she worked as a radio presenter for the SFB and could be heard on the nationwide ARD night express . She was a gag writer for Mike Krüger , Harald Schmidt , Gerd Dudenhöffer and Hans Werner Olm . In 1994 she presented her first solo program on stage I would love to be a chauvinist . In 1998 she was seen together with Isabel Varell in the six-part ZDF comedy show Varell and Decker . Other TV appearances followed, including Quatsch Comedy Club , Mitternachtsspitzen and Blond am Freitag , where she has been a regular guest since 2001. Gabi Decker has been on tour across Germany with her stage program Leibhaftig since June 2004. In August 2010, the Berlin cabaret theater Die Wühlmäuse started their stage program Das Beste - Zugabi . In 2019 she went on tour with "Lieder mit Musik", where she showed a cross-section of her work. On December 14th, 2019 she performed her last show in the concert hall of the UDK in Berlin under the name "100 Years Gabi Decker" and said goodbye to the stage.

Private

She is the founder of the foundation "Help for Seniors in Berlin and the Surrounding Area" and patron of the Berlin gay advice service.

In June 2018 she married the doctor Dr. Heiner Stiepani.
