Isabel Varell (born Isabel Wehrmann in Kempen on July 31, 1961 ) is a German singer , actress , musical artist and television presenter .

Life

She attended the Goethe-Gymnasium Düsseldorf and the Luisen-Gymnasium Düsseldorf . She was expelled from both schools in the late 1970s after her secondary school leaving certificate. At the age of 13 she made her first appearance in a talent competition. In 1980 she took third place out of 6000 participants in a young talent competition organized by Radio Luxemburg and was sponsored in 1981 by music producer Jack White , who produced her first single for Ariola in the same year : Ich kämpf um dich , a cover version of the Eric Carmen hit It Hurts Too Much . Her debut album Baby Rock'n'Roll followed two years later , also a Jack White production. In 1984 Varell had her first success with Dreamy , with which she received the Golden Europe for best young singer in 1984 . The English version Tonight was sung by Marlene Ricci . In the 1987 children's series Head Over Head , Isabel Varell sang the theme song Oh Schreck, Oh Schreck, das Kind ist weg ...

Nudes of her appeared in the July 1982 issue of German Playboy . As an actress, she was seen in the ARD ten-part series Das Rätsel der Sandbank , for which she also sang the theme song, in the female lead. Drafi Deutscher , with whom she was married from 1989 to 1991, composed the title Melodie d'amour for her , with which she took sixth place in the German preliminary decision for the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest . Deutscher produced her singles Indestructible Love and Geh 'nicht über . At the end of the 1990s, Isabel Varell appeared in leading musical roles ( Pico and Slice of Saturday ) at Hamburg theaters. In the pop musical Cinderella , Varell took on the role of the fairy Jolanda on the 2012/2013 tour. From 2002 to 2004 she was the co-presenter of Guido Cantz in the ZDF show Karnevalissimo .

In 1997 she was the presenter of the current showroom on N 3 alongside Carlo von Tiedemann . In 1998 the comedy series Varell & Decker followed on ZDF . In the same year she stood in front of the camera for the WDR series Gisbert together with Hape Kerkeling . From 2002 to 2007 she was with her partner Christian Heckelsmüller in their music comedy live program Mir is Very Funny, directed by Hape Kerkeling on cabaret stages . In 2004, Varell took part in the second season of the RTL program Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! part and took second place. For a while she was featured in the Call-in Contest on 9Live . In the ARD broadcast Do you understand fun? she worked as a decoy in 2012 and tricked Eckart von Hirschhausen in his own speech.

From June 2009 to May 2010 she played the role of Andrea Weller in the ARD telenovela Rote Rosen , from July to August 2010 she returned again for a guest appearance. From September 20, 2010 to June 21, 2011 she was in the ZDF telenovela Lena - Love of my Life as Linda Behrendt. In 2012 she played in Rosamunde Pilcher: The Secret of the White Dove . From 2012 to 2016 she moderated the TV music program of the Hessischer Rundfunk Schlagerparty , together with radio moderator Dieter Voss . As of February 21, 2016, she hosted the Sat.1 telecast all in white with four episodes. In between, she played repeatedly in theater productions, for example in the comedy Düsseldorf .

Her autobiography Mittlere Reife: From my life was published in April 2016 . Since May 2018 she has been moderating the service magazine Live after nine in the first together with Tim Schreder . In the same month she took on the role of Linda Schneider in the television series In All Friendship .

In August 2015 she married the TV director Pit Weyrich ; both had been a couple for eight years.
