Evergreen Terrace is an American metalcore band that integrates stronger influences from melodic hardcore . The members are from Jacksonville , Florida . The band named themselves after the fictional street the Simpsons live on.

history

Founded in 1999 by Andrew Carey (vocals), Craig Chaney (guitar / vocals), Joshua James (guitar), Jason Southwell (bass) and Christopher Brown (drums), the band released the first demo over the next two years - EP Broken , a second EP and a split EP with the band Cordelle . Her debut album Losing All Hope Is Freedom was finally released in 2001 on Indianola Records. On the same label, the split EP followed in 2002 with the Florida-based hardcore punk band xOne Fifthx, for which Evergreen Terrace contributed four songs.

In the same year Eulogy Recordings signed the band and released their album Burned Alive by Time . After several large-scale tours, the cover album Writer's Block was released in February 2004 with cover versions of songs by well-known bands such as U2 , Tears for Fears , The Offspring or the Smashing Pumpkins . In July of the same year, the album At Our Worst followed , which includes live recordings of the band and four older demo songs.

In 2005 the DVD Hotter, Wetter, Stickier, Funner came out, which mainly contains live material. With the album Sincerity Is an Easy Disguise in This Business , they released another album with new song material in the same year, three years after the publication of Burned Alive by Time . Shortly after the recordings, drummer Christopher Brown left the band. This was replaced by Kyle Mims.

At the beginning of February 2007 the band found a new home with Metal Blade Records or its sub-label High Impact Recordings by As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis. The fifth album Wolfbiker was released there in July 2007 .

The album Almost Home was released on September 25, 2009 via Metal Blade Records .

Joshua James left the band in 2012 and is currently playing with Stick to Your Guns. Jason Southwell returned to the band in the same year, after which Alex Varian switched from electric bass to electric guitar.

On December 10, 2013, the album Dead Horses was released on Rise Records.

On June 1, 2015, the band announced on their Facebook page that singer and founding member Andrew Carey had left the band.

The band announced in April 2017 on their Facebook page that both singer Andrew Carey and original drummer and founding member Christopher Brown are back in the band. The first concerts took place in June and July in her hometown of Jacksonville, Florida . This was followed by a short European tour.

style

Stylistically, the band is difficult to classify, but metalcore and new school hardcore as fundamental musical influences are unmistakable and shape the image of the band. On the other hand, the sound of the group is also characterized by stronger elements reminiscent of Melodic Hardcore , partly also of Pop-Punk and Rock .

The band often describes itself as a “melodic hardcore” band and their style as “fast, powerful heavy hardcore to melodic punk / rock”.

The band is compared at punknews.org with groups like Poison the Well , 18 Visions , Indecision or Metallica .
