content

The lyrics to Maniac are written in German and English, translated into German, the title means "Wahnsinnig". The music and the text were specially written by Conrady. Musically, the song moves in the area of pop music . The song is built on two stanzas, a bridge and a refrain between and after the stanzas. The song begins with the first verse that is sung by Conrady, Forster enters the middle of it and they take turns singing the lines of the verse. The first verse is followed by the refrain, which is sung by both of them together. The same process follows with the second stanza. After the second verse there is a short bridge that is also sung by both and then a repeating refrain. The stanzas and the bridge are all in German, the refrain in English.

In an interview with KiKA , Conrady described the content of the song as follows: "It is about a strong love that can almost drive you crazy because the person in love experiences such intense feelings that they can no longer think of anything else."

"You make me - maniac, maniac.
You make me feel this way.
Maniac, maniac.
From the point when you cut my way, way, way.
And again you make my day - maniac, maniac.
And you make me. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

"You make me - insane, insane.
You make me feel this way
Insane, insane.
From the time you crossed my path, way, way.
And once again you make my day - insane, insane.
And you make me. "

- Refrain, translation

Music video

The music video for Maniac premiered on March 3, 2015 during Dein Song on KIKA . You can see Conrady walking through a forest and suddenly discovering an endlessly long red cloth. The cloth wanders through the forest and Conrady pursues it and tries to catch it. First of all, it takes her out of the forest to a place with old railroad cars where she stays for a while. Towards the end she leads the cloth to a castle on the tower of which she gets to grasp the cloth. Shortly after she got her hands on the scarf, she lets go of it again and the scarf flies out of the castle window back into nature. In between scenes with studio recordings of Conrady and Forster, as well as a scene of Conrady drawing a picture (of two approaching hands) can be seen. The total length of the video is 3:55 minutes. Directed by Andreas Z Simon.
