The lyrics to the stomach and head are written entirely in German. The music was written jointly by Mark Forster, Ralf Christian Mayer and Daniel Nitt, the text by Forster and Nitt. The instruments were recorded by Carl Michael Grabinger (drums), Daniel Nitt (keyboard), Ulrich Rode (guitar) and the Wroclaw Score Orchestra (string instruments).

“Belly says yes to head, but head says no to belly;
And between the two I stand,
between the two I stand.

Belly says yes to head, but head says no,
then it shakes.
I stand between the two.
I stand between the two and don't know. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

In an interview with Stefan Raab Forster himself said the following about his song: "This is actually a song that stands for how I felt in the two years when the album was made."

Bundesvision Song Contest 2015

Mark Forster won the Federal Vision Song Contest in 2015 for his State of Rhineland-Palatinate with 53 points ahead of of North Rhine-Westphalia antretenden rock band Donots with the song Then without me (117 points) and for Thuringia antretenden pop singer Yvonne Elliman with preferred it that way . During the scoring of all 16 federal states , Forster took the lead right from the start with the first scoring and was leading relatively early on by a clear margin over his fellow competitors. In addition to his native Rhineland-Palatinate, he received full points from a total of five federal states.

In the run-up to the performances, small clips were shown for promotion, where Stefan Raab and the Heavytones met the performers in a rehearsal room. Here they all played an acoustic version of the Kurt Dehn classic En Echt Pälzer racht ken Hasch , as well as a Palatine version of Forster's hit Au revoir . As a gift from his region, he gave Raab two dub glasses . At the beginning of his live performance, only Forster could be seen together with two live musicians, against the background of a screen on which the music video on the stomach and head could be seen. With the beginning of the chorus, the screen rose and two other live musicians could be seen. Towards the end the partition to the second half of the stage fell in the background and a whole orchestra appeared along with a golden shower.

With a lead of 53 points, Forster achieved the second-largest lead in the history of the competition. With Forster's victory, Rhineland-Palatinate left the last two places in the all-time points list for the first time in history. Rhineland-Palatinate left Bavaria , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony-Anhalt behind and jumped from 15th to 12th place. In contrast to the competition, Forster had to admit defeat in the German single charts Glasperlenspiel with Geiles Leben as the most successful entry.

Music video

The music video about stomach and head was shot in Hamburg and celebrated its premiere on August 12, 2015 on YouTube . It tells three stories from different people with the same problem. On the one hand, the story of the ballerina Maya from the music video for Au revoir is told. It shows her everyday life in the dance school up to a performance in the Altona theater , before which she fled outside for a moment shortly before her performance. The second story continues the story of gangster Niklas from the music video for Flash me . He is released from the correctional facility , later during a visit to a McDonald’s branch he notices his friend whom he left during the robbery and runs away unseen. Finally, a new story is told about a girl suffering from cancer who enjoys her life but hides the fact that she is wearing a wig . Towards the end of the video all three are on the street and see fireworks , which causes a sudden rethink. The ballerina rushes back to her performance in the theater, the gangster waits for his great love at the back exit of his workplace and the cancer-stricken girl confidently takes off her wig. In between, Forster can be seen again and again singing the song on a deserted site ( Hamburg's wholesale market halls ). In addition to the extras , fans of Forster can also be seen at the various locations . The total length of the video is 4:16 minutes. As with the previous singles Au revoir and Flash mich , Kim Frank again directed. To date, the music video has over 30 million views on YouTube (as of November 2017).

Charts and chart placements

Bauch und Kopf reached the charts half a year before his single was released due to the high number of downloads. The reason for this was the interpretation of the twelve-year-old Luca in the first episode of the children's talent show The Voice Kids 2015 . The appearance means that Luca in Team Lena Meyer-Landrut went one round.

The single reached position 15 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 24 weeks. In Austria the single reached position 69 in the charts in two weeks. In 2015, Bauch und Kopf ranked 90th in the German annual single charts. For Forster as an interpreter, this is already the sixth chart success in Germany. For Forster as a composer this is the seventh chart success in Germany. For Forster as a music producer, this is the third chart success in Germany.
