Bundesvision Song Contest 2015

In order to apply for the song and yourself, Glasperlenspiel competed in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2015 for their state of Baden-Württemberg . They took sixth place with 82 points and had to admit defeat to Mark Forster with his winning title Bauch und Kopf , the Donots with Then Without Me and Yvonne Catterfeld with Lieber . From their home town of Baden-Württemberg they got the highest number of points of the evening with 12 points, they got at least two points from all other federal states . In the run-up to the performances, small clips were shown for promotion in which Stefan Raab and the Heavytones met the performers in a rehearsal room and they held a small jam session . Everyone played an acoustic version of the oat and banana blues by Äffle and Pferdle . Then they played a mashup from Shut Up and Let Me Go by Ting Tings and Good Times by Chic .

This was the second time that Glasperlenspiel took part in this competition. In 2011 they also competed for Baden-Württemberg with the title Echt and took fourth place behind the winner Tim Bendzko ( If words were my language ) and other participants such as Flo Mega (back) and Bosse & Anna Loos (Frankfurt / Oder ) . In contrast to the BSC, Geiles Leben was more successful in the German single charts than Mark Forster's stomach and head and even with the winning song Schau no longer holds the joint record for the “most successful entry in the German single charts after placement”. The single is the commercially most successful BSC contribution in the German and Swiss single charts of all time, and on top of that it is the only BSC contribution with gold certification in Switzerland.

content

The lyrics to Geiles Leben are written in German. The music and the text were written jointly by Philipp Albinger, Daniel Grunenberg, Philipp Klemz, Carolin Niemczyk, Christian Raab and Peter Stanowsky; Benjamin Bistram was also involved as songwriter. Musically, the song moves in the area of pop music . The song is about a generation in which the real world is being faded out more and more, a generation that prefers to celebrate “ champagne parties ” and only knows superficial relationships, as a result of which deep friendships or bonds are breaking up. Paths that have so far been taken together now lead in completely opposite directions, because values such as down-to-earthness, loyalty and loyalty fall by the wayside.

In an interview with Stefan Raab , Niemczyk himself described the content of the song in the following words: “It's about a person who devotes himself to the party and who changes to drugs and the unimportant things in life. We sing about the fact that we don't recognize this person and hope that they will find their way back. "

“You lead a life without worries,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you have n't found
anything you can get today,
you just put it off until tomorrow!
It took me a while to understand
that the time was right to go now!

I wish you a great life,
with tough champagne parties ,
with fame, lots of money, big villas and sunglasses.
I can see very clearly that you actually want something else! "

- Refrain, original excerpt

Reviews

While laut.de judged the album Tag X rather negatively, they rated Geiles Leben as one of the few tracks positively with the words: “ Geiles Leben is a little surprise: ironic text, relaxed and deep-house arrangement . The song has the potential to stay in the ear and also on the radio. "

According to Jan Stremmel from the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the “hymn to the young philistinism” is suitable for viewers of the Stadl show.
