The evening show on Bavarian TV is a weekday evening magazine that has been broadcast live on BR TV from Monday to Friday at 6:00 p.m. since 1988 . The program was previously broadcast as a Bavarian regional magazine from November 8, 1954 in the regional program of ARD television, at that time under the title Die Münchner Abendschau . It is therefore one of the oldest television programs that still exist in Germany today.

Content and topics

The program broadcasts current reports from Bavaria, background information on current topics, stories, guides, culture and music, and invites studio guests. Part of the broadcast are live reports in which the reporters present information, reports, discussions and background information live from facilities in Bavaria. This should make the evening show more present in the various regions. There is also an article at around 6:15 p.m. under the compact heading , in which the most important news of the day from Bavaria are summarized.

Former content

As part of a program reform of BR television, the evening show was reduced from 45 minutes to 30 minutes from April 11, 2016. The approximately five-minute sports block, which was previously moderated by a sports editor in the evening show around 6.30 p.m., has since been broadcast in the main edition of the Rundschau instead.

From 2002 to April 7, 2016 as part of the evening news every Thursday 18:35 to 18:45 was the competition Bayernlos of LOTTO Bayern ( "The Second Chance") broadcast live, alternately hosted by Michael Harles and Peter Fraas . Initially, three winners spun a prize wheel with amounts of money between 2,500 euros and 125,000 euros. If one of the two jokers was spun, the candidate won three times the amount that was subsequently spun again. Finally, three new winners were drawn from a lottery wheel by a prominent guest. Due to the shortening of the broadcasting time of the evening show in April 2016, the Bayernlos was moved to the program Wir in Bayern and has been shown on Thursdays from 4:15 p.m. ever since.

From October 2007 to March 2016, on Tuesdays, mostly a contribution from the evening show hooks section was broadcast, in which viewer questions on topics from everyday life were answered.

On Friday, at the end of the program, a cabaret comic about a fictional member of the Bundestag, drawn by Dieter Hanitzsch and spoken by Helmut Schleich , was shown under the title Der große Max ("From the diary of CSU Bundestag member Max Froschhammer"), which shows the current political events should take up.

Moderators and editors

The program is currently moderated weekly alternately by Annette Betz, Claudia Finger-Erben, Christoph Deumling , Roman Roell and Julia Scharf . Live reporters on site are currently u. a. Martin Breitkopf, Mathias Flasskamp, Christian Limpert, Anja Marks-Schilffahrt, Constanze Schulze, Albrecht Rauh, Nicole Remann, Birgitt Roßhirt and Uschi Schmidt. The editor-in-chief is Matthias Keller-May.

Regional magazines of the evening show

In order to be able to report more strongly from the different regions of Bavaria, BR television introduced regional splitting on May 2, 1994 with the division of the evening show in Bavaria live - the north and Bavaria live - the south . From Monday to Thursday, regional reporting was broadcast on BR television from 6.30 p.m. to 6.42 p.m. Since 2007, the splitting with the regional magazines, which also contain regional weather forecasts, has been taking place Monday to Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
