The State Lottery Administration in Bavaria (short form: LOTTO Bayern) is a commercial enterprise of the Free State of Bavaria and is legally part of the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland . It is the state lottery company in Bavaria and the operator of the nine Bavarian casinos .

Basics and tasks

LOTTO Bayern's activities are based on the State Treaty on Gaming and the associated amendment contract that came into force on July 1, 2012. The State Lottery Administration in Bavaria has been a commissioned company of the German Lotto and Totoblocks and for the GlücksSpirale lottery since January 2013 . This is the amalgamation of the lottery companies of all federal states to organize the state sports betting ODDSET developed in Bavaria. LOTTO Bayern is a member of the European Lotteries (EL) and the World Lottery Association (WLA).

LOTTO Bayern has 360 employees (as of December 2017). The State Lottery Administration in Bavaria has carried out the weekly drawing of the winning numbers for the GlücksSpirale since the introduction of the GlücksSpirale in 1970. Bavaria was the first German state to introduce the lottery on April 27, 1735 through the general mandate of Elector Karl Albrecht . Under Elector Max III. Joseph it was nationalized in 1773 and extended to the entire Kingdom of Bavaria in 1807. The establishment of the state lottery was suspended from 1861 to 1911, and in 1911 Bavaria joined the Royal Prussian State Lottery , which in this context changed its name to the Royal Prussian-South German Class Lottery .

On March 12, 1946, the "Bavarian State Lottery" was established by ordinance with the consent of the American military government as a state institution without legal personality in the division of the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance. A few days earlier, on February 27, 1946, the State Lottery Administration had started operations. On March 15, 1946, the sale of tickets under the name "Bavarian Reconstruction Lottery" started. Soon after the introduction of the lottery lottery, preparations for the establishment of a class lottery ( South German class lottery ) began. On 15./16. LOTTO Bayern has been a cooperation partner of the Munich Olympic Park since March 2016 . The cooperation runs until 2018. In April 2016 LOTTO Bayern became a sponsor of SpVgg Greuther Fürth for two years . In 2017, the twelve-year partnership with the Brose Baskets basketball club was extended for two more seasons. Also in 2017, the partnership with the soccer club 1. FC Nürnberg was extended by two years. Also ATP Munich is supported by LOTTO Bavaria.

Products

LOTTO Bayern sells its products on the internet in addition to its network of retail outlets. These include Lotto 6aus49 with the additional lotteries Spiel 77 and SUPER 6, tear-open and scratch cards such as Bayernlos, diridari and Super Cash, the KENO number lottery with the additional lottery plus5, the pension lottery GlücksSpirale including the additional lottery GlücksSpirale-Die Sieger-Chance and the Sports betting ODDSET and TOTO from ODDSET GmbH. The State Lottery Administration also operates Bavaria's nine casinos in Bad Füssing, Bad Kissingen, Bad Kötzting, Bad Reichenhall, Bad Steben , Bad Wiessee, Feuchtwangen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Lindau.

People under the age of 18 are generally excluded from participating in lotteries and sports betting in Germany, including here. As a further measure to protect against gambling addiction , the customer card requirement applies to certain products that can only be used by adult customers on presentation of a customer card.
