The symbol of the spiral of rays is under the Olympic rings .

The Glücksspirale ( spelling GlücksSpirale ) is - like the additional lotteries Spiel 77 and Super 6 - a so-called number lottery . In contrast to game 77, however, a single number is not drawn, but a separate number for each prize class. Two winning numbers are drawn for the 6th prize class. There are a total of eight winning numbers: one with 1 to 5 digits each for the first five prize classes, two winning numbers with 6 digits for the 6th prize class and one winning number with 7 digits for the 7th prize class.

symbol

The spiral of rays serves as a symbol for the spiral of happiness . It is originally the emblem of the XX. Olympic Games in Munich . The symbol in a rainbow-colored design is used for the lucky spiral.

history

The Glücksspirale was jointly introduced on November 6, 1969 by the National Olympic Committee , the German Lotto and Totoblock and public television . With her income she was supposed to contribute to the financing of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and Kiel, as the proceeds of the Olympic lottery that had taken place up until then were not enough. She later supported the financing of the 1974 World Cup in Germany. At the beginning, the Glücksspirale was actually designed as a time-limited lottery. After the major sporting events, it was discontinued in 1975, but was brought back to life in 1976 by the lottery and toto companies, with 50% of the income going to the German Sports Association and the Federal Association of Independent Welfare Care since 1976 . Since 1991, the German Foundation for Monument Protection has also received funds from the proceeds.

Since these two events, funds have been flowing into the areas of welfare, sport, the preservation of monuments and, since January 1, 2000, the Foundation for Nature and Environment. With the proceeds from the winner chance introduced in 2016, top German sport is also to be financially supported.

The spiral symbol was struck on the motif side of the first of five 10 DM commemorative coins on the occasion of the 1972 Olympic Games. The first edition in 1970 had the inscription "in Germany", which however had to be changed to "in Munich" for the other coins and the new edition of the spiral motif coin in 1972, as the Olympic Games are awarded in a city and not in a country.

At the beginning of 2018, the profit plan was changed. Before that, there were also two ticket numbers in the seventh prize class at every event. The monthly pension was previously for life.

Prizes and chances to win until the end of 2017

In the 7th prize class, as in the 6th prize class, two ticket numbers were drawn, which resulted in a chance of winning in the highest class of one to five million. In contrast to Lotto 6 out of 49 , Spiel 77 and Super 6 , prize class 1 is the lowest in the Glücksspirale.

In the highest prize category 7, the winnings of a maximum of EUR 2,010,000 (with a stake of EUR 5) were transferred to an insurance company commissioned by the lottery company ( Luxembourg- based Atlanticlux Lebensversicherung SA , as of January 2015 ) in favor of the winner with discharging effect for the lottery company ), which in return made the winner an individual offer to conclude an insurance contract (lifelong immediate pension of € 1,500, € 3,750 or € 7,500 per month, depending on the stake). The winner received any accrued interest. In the event of the winner's death, his heirs will receive the amount that is still left after deducting the pensions already paid up to his death from the capital stock originally gained of a maximum of EUR 2,010,000. However, the winner could have the amount paid out in full or in part by the insurer within four weeks of receiving the offer.

The cash payment of the winnings in an amount or the portion of the pension payment that corresponds to the consumption of the original winnings is not subject to German income tax as a lottery winnings . However, taxes were payable on the income that the insurance company pays out with the investment of the profit ( income share ).

Winner chance

Since July 2, 2016, another option of the luck spiral, the winner's chance, can be played in some federal states. At first, they could only be chosen in the six federal states of Baden-Württemberg , Bavaria , Berlin , Rhineland-Palatinate , Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein ; it is now also available in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and North Rhine-Westphalia . The stake for this is 3 euros and the chance to win can only be played in conjunction with the spiral of luck. There were two prize categories: Prize class I with an immediate lifelong pension of € 3,000 and prize class II with an instant win of € 1,000,000. A six-digit number was drawn for prize class I and three seven-digit numbers for prize class II.

Prizes and chances of winning from 2018

The odds of winning are 1:10 x , where x is the winning class. So for the fifth prize tier it is one in one hundred thousand. An exception applies to the 6th prize class. Two ticket numbers are drawn here, which doubles the chance of winning in this prize category. So it's one in five hundred thousand.

In the top prize category 7, a twenty-year pension of 10,000 euros is paid out monthly or the winnings of a maximum of 2,100,000 euros (with a stake of 5 euros) are paid out immediately. The interest on the pension payment is due to the lottery company. After twenty years, the total paid out amounts to 2,400,000 euros.

The winnings are fixed, so are not divided by the number of winners in the same class using the totalizator principle as in the lottery . Exceptions are provided for the cases when more than 100 winners of class 6 or more than ten winners of class 7 occur, since in any case the total winnings paid by the lottery company for class 6 to 10,000,000 euros and for class 7 to 21,000. 000 euros remains limited and is divided among the winners of the respective class.

The ticket price is currently 5 euros per ticket and drawing plus the tip fee; in some federal states there are also ticket shares for a stake of 2.50 euros for half a ticket and 1 euro for a fifth ticket. Optionally, you can also take part in the Super 6 and Spiel 77 lotteries , which cannot be played individually.

At the end of 2002, Sat.1 ended its cooperation with the Glücksspirale for the time being.

The draw took place regularly in the ZDF sports studio as early as the early 1970s . On the occasion of the soccer World Cup in Germany in 1974, “The Big Game”, a television show by the Glücksspirale with Freddy Quinn , was broadcast.

The winning numbers of the Glücksspirale were always announced on Saturdays at 7:57 p.m. shortly before the news from Franziska Reichenbacher in the first . Since July 6, 2013, the winning numbers from Lotto 6 out of 49 have been read out on this slot .
