Spiel 77 is an additional lottery that is held two days a week (Wednesday and Saturday) in the German Lotto and Totoblock .

With each drawing a 7-digit sequence (from 0000000 to 9999999) is drawn as the winning number. The win then results from the ticket number, which must match the winning number. When participating online, the ticket number can be freely chosen. Since the lot number and winning number are compared from the right, one also speaks of a final number lottery . The prize category is the result of the number of matching digits that start on the right:

class Winning number Probabilities Profit
Prize class I. Lot number 0.00001% at least 177,777.00 euros
Prize class II the last 6 digits 0.00009% 77,777.00 euros
Prize class III the last 5 digits 0.0009% 7,777.00 euros
Prize class IV the last 4 digits 0.009% 777.00 euros
Prize class V the last 3 digits 0.09% 77.00 euros
Prize class VI the last 2 digits 0.9% 17.00 euros
Prize class VII the last digit 9% 5.00 euros
Rivet Wrong final digit 90% 0.00 euros

For prize class I, at least 7.11% of the total amount of the respective stakes will be provided as a prize amount. If no winner can be determined in a drawing in prize class I, the winnings will be played out as a jackpot in the next drawing. The prize money in prize class I is at least 177,777 euros. However, due to the totalizator principle , the winnings can also be higher; in this case it increases by 100,000 euros.

Game 77 is an optional game offer and can only be used in conjunction with participation in the lottery , toto , luck spiral , BINGO! and can be played at Eurojackpot . Participation in the game 77 is associated with additional costs (since September 2010 with 2.50 euros). Provided that the minimum amount of 177,777 euros is paid out in the highest prize class I, the expected value of the prize is 90 cents.

history

Spiel 77 was developed in the early 1970s by the then Saartoto manager Hanns-Josef Christ. On January 1, 1975, the final number lottery Spiel 77 was introduced by the lottery companies in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bremen . The companies of the other federal states gradually followed.

Its predecessor was the so-called Olympic Lottery , which was launched in 1967 as a four-digit final number lottery and - like the Glücksspirale - was used to finance the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich . In 1974 the Olympic lottery was discontinued and game 77 took its place.

The success of Spiel 77 later also gave rise to the Super 6 final digit lottery .

Since there is a compulsory distribution after twelve consecutive draws without a winner in prize class 1, on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, for example, a jackpot of around 8 million euros was distributed over 15 tickets in prize class 3 (5 correct final digits), each 563,701, 60 euros, paid out. Since there was also no winner in the second class, the third class winners won the jackpot for the first time in this lottery, otherwise they would have won “only” 7777 euros.
