Matteo II. Visconti (* around 1319 in Saronno ; † September 29, 1355 ) from the Visconti family was the third son of Stefano Visconti . When the family was divided up after the death of Cardinal Giovanni Visconti in 1354 , he got Bologna , Lodi , Piacenza and Parma . Since he devoted himself to "immorality", he was murdered after just one year by his brothers Bernabò Visconti and Galeazzo II Visconti , who subsequently ruled his share together.

Matteo was married to Gigliola Gonzaga , the daughter of Philippino Gonzaga ; their daughter Caterina Visconti († October 10, 1382 ) was married by her uncles in 1358 to Ugolino Gonzaga , who was also murdered after four years.
