The great Max

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The big Max is a political comic that was originally printed in the SZ on the weekend and was broadcast as an animated film every Friday around 6:40 p.m. in the evening show of the Bavarian radio from 2003 to 2015 .

content

The main character is the fictional CSU member of the Bundestag Max Froschhammer from the Lower Bavarian village of Straßlfing, from whose perspective the current political situation is shown. He is a conservative and loyal backbencher who admires the chairmen and ministers of his party very much and supports them to the best of his ability - at least in his opinion.

Froschhammer is rarely seen in actions, but mainly in discussions. The most important settings for this are his regulars' table and his family; In addition, his diary plays an important role, to which he entrusts his views and plans after his experiences and discussions over a glass of red wine. After this has happened, he takes action and tries to redeclare any - sometimes non-political - topic to the benefit of his party. He often receives support from Prime Minister Franz Josef Strauss , who died in 1988 , who appears to him as an angel in a dream, is always oversized and - typically Bavarian - is portrayed with a beer mug in hand. Each episode ends with the conclusion: "It's good that I'm here!"

Authors

The character The Great Max comes from the pen of the SZ editor Herbert Riehl-Heyse and the cartoonist Dieter Hanitzsch . Since the death of Riehl-Heyse, Hanitzsch has been writing the stories alone.

Froschhammer was spoken in the cartoon by the actor Jörg Hube , who died on June 19, 2009. Since September 2009 the cabaret artist Helmut Schleich lent his voice to “the great Max”. The name Max Froschhammer comes from the cabaret artist Dieter Hildebrandt .

End of broadcast

On December 18, 2015, the last episode was broadcast on Bavarian television after 12 years. It ended with the words “It's good that you exist!” And the last appearances of all the main characters such as Max's Stammtisch, the Froschhammer family, Horst Seehofer , Angela Merkel and Markus Söder .
