If words were my language is a song by the German singer-songwriter Tim Bendzko .
background
The song, composed and written by Bendzko, was produced in the Hamburger Festland Studios by Swen Meyer for the debut album of the same name. The lyrics are about shyness and the inability to admit your feelings to another person ("I have no words / I don't have the words / to tell you what I feel"). With a length of 3:30 minutes, the album version is slightly longer than the single release. Bendzko won the Bundesvision Song Contest 2011 for his hometown Berlin with the title on September 29, 2011 . As a result, the single reached the Media Control Charts in October 2011, rose to number five and lasted a total of 26 weeks. Bendzko was the first German newcomer to place his album, his debut single and his second single in the German charts at the same time.
Bundesvision Song Contest 2011
Tim Bendzko won the Bundesvision Song Contest 2011 for Berlin with 30 points ahead of Flo Mega, who competed for Bremen , with the song Zurück (111 points). During the scoring of all 16 federal states , Bendzko set himself apart relatively early on by a large margin from his fellow competitors. In addition to his home in Berlin, he also got the full number of points from Brandenburg .
This was already the third victory of an artist from Berlin in the seventh edition of the Bundesvision Song Contest . Before that, Seeed won 2006 with the song Ding and in 2009 Peter Fox won with the song Schwarz zu blau .
For promotional purposes, every artist shoots an election commercial for participation in the BuViSoco. In this, Bendzko and fans can be seen at various locations (e.g. Alexanderplatz , Berlin Wall , Brandenburg Gate ...) as they start a call for the audience to vote for him.
