Real is a song of the German electro - duo Glass Bead Game . The piece is the first single from her debut album Move with me .
Creation and artwork
The song was written by Zippy Davids, Daniel Grunenberg , Anders Kjer and Carolin Niemczyk . The single was produced by Mikko Tamminen, with Ingo Politz , Mic Schröder and Bernd Wendlandt as co-producers . The single was mastered at TrueBusyness Mastering in Berlin under the direction of Sascha Bühren, the single was mixed by Arttu Peljo. The song was released under the Polydor music label and distributed through Universal Music Publishing . On the cover of the maxi single you can see the two Glasperlenspiel members - in addition to their artist names and song titles. The cover picture was shot by German photographer Anita Bresser and designed by Kropac Media.
Publication and promotion
Echt was first published as a download on September 2, 2011. The physical sound carrier was released a week later on September 9, 2011 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . In addition to the single version, the digital maxi single contains an acoustic version and a remix version of Echt , as well as the song Magnetisch , as a B-side . The physical maxi single is only available as a "2-track single" and contains the songs Echt and Magnetisch .
In order to promote the song, in addition to participating in the Bundesvision Song Contest, numerous television appearances followed, including live appearances in prime time on Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel and the ZDF Silverster Celebration Welcome 2012 at the Brandenburg Gate .
Bundesvision Song Contest 2011
In order to apply for the song and for themselves, Glasperlenspiel competed in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2011 for their home state of Baden-Württemberg . Behind Tim Bendzko ( If words were my language ), Flo Mega (back) and Bosse with Anna Loos (Frankfurt / Oder) they finished fourth with 91 points. From their home country they got the full number of points with twelve points, with the exception of the federal state of Hamburg they received at least three points from all federal states.
For promotional purposes, each artist shot an election commercial for participation in the BuViSoCo. In this, Niemczyk as a kind of teacher asks Grunenberg what “real” Baden-Württemberg is and always gives him two possible answers. The video was shot against the same backdrop as the cover shoot for the album and the single.

The music video for Echt celebrated its premiere on August 11, 2011 on MyVideo . You can see a man who meets a girl ( Wanda Badwal ) in the subway . He hesitates for a while before deciding to run after her. At first it seems like he has lost her and will never meet her again. Due to an accident of an old man who drops a suitcase with glass marbles , the two finally find each other. The total length of the video is 3:16 minutes. Directed by Marcus Sternberg , it was produced by Free The Dragon Filmproduktion.

Charts and chart placements
Echt reached position ninth in the single charts in Germany and was able to stay in the top 10 for one week and in the charts for 34 weeks. In Austria the single reached position 54 and stayed in the charts for five weeks. Although the song did not make it to number one, it was still the most successful German-language song in the German single charts for a period of three weeks . Echt placed 60th in the 2011 German annual charts.
For Glasperlenspiel this is the first chart success in Germany and Austria. Until the publication of Geiles Leben , no single from Glasperlenspiel could rank higher or longer in Germany and Austria. A better placement in the German annual charts has not yet been achieved. In the meantime, the duo also managed to reach position ninth in Germany with Never Forgotten and also to place themselves in the Austrian charts for five weeks with friendship .

Awards for music sales
In 2012, Echt was awarded a gold record in Germany for over 150,000 units sold. Thus, together with the single Never Forget (also 150,000 units sold) , Echt was one of the most successful Glasperlenspiel releases up to the release of Geiles Leben .
