Limitless is the second studio album of the German electro - duo Glass Bead Game .

Creation and artwork

The songs were composed by the two Glasperlenspiel members Daniel Grunenberg and Carolin Niemczyk , in cooperation with changing composers. The composers David Jürgens and Katharina Löwel participated most frequently . Most of the tracks were mixed and produced by Benjamin Bistram, Daniel Grunenberg and the British record producer Yoad Nevo; Nick Coler co-produced some of the titles. The album was mastered at Nevo Sound Studios in London under the direction of Yoad Nevo. The album was released under the Polydor music label . On the cover of the album - next to the inscription of the artist and the song title - you can see Glasperlenspiel. Grunenberg looks to the left in the picture and Niemczyk to the right while she blows a bubble of chewing gum. The cover picture was shot by the German photographer Ben Wolf and designed by Matthias Bäuerle . On the cover of Grenzenlos at this moment you can see glass bead games standing in pink fog.

Publication and promotion

The album was first released on May 10, 2013 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The album consists of twelve new studio recordings. In addition to the regular album release, there is also a “deluxe edition”. This special version contains an additional DVD with an unplugged concert by Glasperlenspiel. A year later on July 4, 2014, the album was released again under the name Grenzlos at that moment . This new version included seven new songs and consists of a total of 19 songs.

To promote the album followed u. a. an appearance on TV total . Niemczyk gave Stefan Raab a pack of chewing gum , which is an allusion to the cover of the album, where Niemczyk can be seen with a bubble gum.

The lyrics are all written in German. Musically, the songs move in the realm of electropop . In the song Immortal , Glasperlenspiel was supported by David Juergens as guitarist and in the song Let's move something as a keyboard player. On the song Before I Say Nothing , they were supported by Sebastian Kirchner as a guitarist. When I look into your heart is, there is a new edition of Good Times, Bad Times -Titelsongs.

Limitless (deluxe edition) is the first video album by Glasperlenspiel. It includes an unplugged concert that was recorded during the zdf @ bauhaus concert series. The concert was broadcast on April 30, 2012 on zDFkultur and released on May 10, 2013 as a bonus DVD for the studio album Grenzenlos .

On the album there are mostly songs from the previous studio album Move with me , only the songs Traumschiff and Tänen are not available. The song Risk is the only song from the new studio album Limitless .

Single releases

The single Never Forget was released two weeks before the album was released. Four months after the album was released, the second single Grenzlos followed . The last single, Moment, followed on June 13, 2014. All single releases made it into the charts in Germany and partly in Austria.

Charts and chart placements

Grenzlos reached position eight in the album charts in Germany and stayed in the top 10 for a week and in the charts for 23 weeks. In Switzerland, the album reached position 61 in the charts in one week. For Glasperlenspiel this is the second chart success in the German album charts and the first in Switzerland. To date, no Glasperlenspiel album has made it higher in the album charts in Germany, the album was replaced by Licht & Schatten (highest ranking: # 5) in 2018.
