Hey
Heia (born April 14, 1904 as Elisabeth Stocks in Hanover ; † November 12, 1956 in Wasserburg am Inn ) was a German painter and draftsman .
Life
Heia grew up in Berlin and spent most of her life there. As the daughter of the painter Alfred StOCK, who specializes in horse pictures, she has been enthusiastic about drawing and painting since childhood. She studied at the Berlin School of Applied Arts from 1921 to 1923 and then at the United State Schools until 1925 . From Expressionism she soon came to Surrealism . "As early as 1931, at an exhibition at the 'Porza' in Berlin, Heia was praised by painters such as Nolde , Schmidt-Rottluff , Hofer , Klee and Baumeister , and a good artistic future was predicted for her."
From 1933 onwards, Heia found it difficult to continue working in her artistic style. In 1937 she was assigned to work as a technical draftsman for Telefunken in Berlin. Her apartment in Berlin was bombed out during the war. At the end of April 1945 she emigrated to Bavaria on foot, where she arrived in Wasserburg in early July. From 1946 on, her drawings found their way into satirical magazines such as Ulenspiegel , Simplicissimus and Das Wespennest . From 1947 on, her work changed towards non-representational painting.
