The song was written by Alexander Freund, Daniel Grunenberg , Michael Kurth , Katharina Löwel , Yoad Nevo and Carolin Niemczyk . The single was produced and mixed by Daniel Grunenberg and Yoad Nevo. The single was mastered in Nevo Sound Studios in London under the direction of Yoad Nevo. The song was released under the Polydor music label . On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to the inscription of the artist and the song title - the members of Glasperlenspiel can be seen against the background of a highway . The cover image was first presented on Facebook on March 3, 2013 and was shot by German photographer Ben Wolf and designed by Matthias Bäuerle.

Never forgotten reached position ninth in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the top 10 for a week and in the charts for 24 weeks. In Austria the single reached position 43 and stayed in the charts for a total of three weeks. Although the song did not make it to number one, it was still the most successful German-language song in the German single charts for a period of one week . Never forgotten placed 71st in the German annual charts from 2013.

For Glasperlenspiel this is the fourth chart success in Germany and the third in Austria. It is her second Top 10 success in Germany after Echt . In the meantime, the duo achieved a new top position in the German ( Echt also position nine) and Austrian single charts with Never Forget , but was later replaced by Geiles Leben as the highest chart listing.
