Flash Me is a song of the German Pop - singer Mark Forster . The piece is the second single from his second studio album, Bauch und Kopf .

Creation and artwork

The song was written by Mark Ćwiertnia ( Mark Forster ), David Jürgens, Ralf Christian Mayer , Daniel Nitt , Philipp Steinke and Simon Triebel . The single was produced by Cwiertnia, Mayer and Nitt. The arrangement and the programming were carried out under the direction of Nitt and Steinke. The instrumentation was carried out by Rainer “Kallas” Hubert (drums), Helgi Jonsson (trombone), Nitt (keyboard), Eiríkur Örn Pálsson (trumpet) and Steinke (keyboard). Flash Me was released under the Four Music label and distributed through Sony Music Entertainment . On the cover of the maxi single - next to the artist name and song title - Forster can be seen standing in front of a window glass in which a sunset is reflected.

Publication and promotion

Flash mich was first published on December 12, 2014 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The song is available for individual download and as an EP . In addition to the single version of Flash mich, the physical EP contains the songs Bei dir , Hab ich, I would have and Ey Liebe as the B-side . All three B-sides cannot be found on the current studio album Bauch und Kopf . There are new pieces that should show in which direction Forster's new studio album should go. A digital version of the EP has been expanded to include the previous single Au revoir as the fifth track.

In order to promote the song, there followed, among other things, live appearances in the N-Joy Christmas show, on ZDF TV Garden on Tour , in the German ESC preliminary decision Our Song for Austria and during the Grand Prix Party on the Hamburg Reeperbahn after the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 .

Sony Music itself described the piece as a tempo-rich hit with fascinating drum and bass borrowings, playful synth substitutes and a typically captivating Mark Forster chorus. In terms of content, the song is about having found your true love, which can "flash" you even in old age.

Music video

The music video for Flash mich premiered on November 21, 2014 on YouTube . Forster was supported by the actors Phillip Helmke (Max), Victor Neumeister (Niklas) and Rafael Stachowiak (bank clerk). The actors Neumeister (Niklas) and Helmke (Max) play the rebellious lovers à la Bonnie and Clyde . At the beginning of the video, the viewer only sees Niklas sitting in a police office: “How do you come up with such shit?” A man asks the boy. “I don't know, it was hot, we were bored,” is the answer. The rest of the video shows scenes of actions that the two of them did such as turning on other young people, getting into a swimming pool , stealing in an electronics store and a bank robbery , as well as some love scenes between the two. The video ends with the two being surprised by the police in front of the bank. Niklas faces the police so that Max can escape. In between, Forster can be seen again and again singing the song in front of a power line. The music video shows a young gay couple whose first fall in love in summer is the main theme of the video. The story of Niklas is continued in the music video on stomach and head . The total length of the video is 3:56 minutes. As before with Au revoir, the director was again Kim Frank . To date, the video has over 26.9 million clicks on YouTube (as of August 9, 2019).

Flash mich reached position eleven in the single charts in Germany . In Austria the single reached position ten and was able to stay in the top 10 for a week and in the charts for 33 weeks. Although the song did not make it to number one, it was still the most successful German-language song in the German single charts for a period of three weeks and the most successful German-language single in the Austrian charts for one week . In 2015, Flash placed me in the German annual single charts at position 36, and at position 37 in Austria.

For Forster as an interpreter, this is the fifth chart success in Germany and the third in Austria. For Forster as an author, this is the sixth chart success in Germany and the third in Austria. In Austria, after Au revoir, it is his second top 10 success as an author and performer.

Awards for music sales

After almost a year of sales, Flash mich was awarded a platinum record in Germany in November 2015 . In 2019 he was awarded a platinum record in Switzerland. This gave the single platinum twice for 330,000 units sold.
