The German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 took place on March 5, 2015 under the title Our Song for Austria , in which the artist and the song for the competition taking place on May 23, 2015 in Vienna , Austria , were sought. Andreas Kümmert with his song Heart of Stone was chosen as the winner . However, he refrained from participating in the ESC in May, so that the runner-up Ann Sophie moved up with her song Black Smoke and represented Germany. As in the previous year, the show was moderated by Barbara Schöneberger .

format

concept

The concept of the show was the same as in the previous year: the eight German artists performing in front of an audience were rated exclusively by the audience. Seven pre-selected participants were announced on January 14, 2015. The song titles were released on February 4th. The eighth participant was determined during a club concert.

poll

The voting went as it did in 2014: There were a total of three voting rounds in which the viewers voted for their favorites by televoting. In the first round, all eight candidates sang a song. The audience then decided which four artists would make it to the next round. In this, the remaining candidates presented a second piece so that the audience could choose their favorite song in the second voting round. In the decisive third round, the two candidates with the most votes appeared again. The winner of Unser Song for Austria was chosen from them in the last voting round .

Club concert

Again, the selection of an artist was decided by a wildcard : both solo artists and bands were able to upload videos to YouTube up to and including January 8, 2015, 12 noon , in which they perform either their own composition or a cover version of a song. By then, a total of 1270 entries had been received. To participate cried Andreas Bourani , Mark Forster and Elaiza , last year's winners of the wild card and German representatives at ESC 2014 , on. Representatives of the NDR , the production company Brainpool , the young radio stations and pop waves of the ARD as well as the labels Universal , Sony , Warner and some independent labels evaluated the received performances and decided on ten candidates who will be presented on February 19, 2015 in the music club Große Freiheit 36 performed in Hamburg . This club concert was broadcast on NDR television and on various platforms on the Internet. The viewer determined the winner of the wildcard via televoting.

Mark Forster made an appearance on the stage. During the performances (as in the previous year) the artists were accompanied by a live band.

Ann Sophie won the concert .
