The German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1958 took place on January 20, 1958 in the Small Westphalia Hall in Dortmund. It was produced by Westdeutscher Rundfunk .
Twelve interpreters, selected by six state broadcasters , faced the competition.
As in the previous year, the competition was won by Margot Hielscher , this time with the song Für Zwei Groschen Musik . It received ten votes. The music came from Friedrich Meyer , then husband of Margot Hielscher, and the text from Fred Rauch and Walter Brandin . Lale Andersen took second place with The Bride of the Seven Seas . Two other songs were Something Quiet Music and Drei Häuser weiter , which can no longer be assigned to any artist. The other song titles and the other placements are not documented.
