Erni Bieler , actually Ernestine Geisbiegler (born May 18, 1925 in Vienna ; † July 11, 2002 there ) was an Austrian jazz and hit singer .

biography

Despite her training as a coloratura soprano , which she finished in 1945, she turned to the light muse. She founded the Vienna Terzett together with her fellow students Ina and Toni Winkler . They also joined in the Hot Club Vienna by Hans Koller on.

She got her stage name Erni Bieler from the music producer Gerhard Mendelson , who got her a record deal in 1947 . She made her debut with Astra-Schall and Harmona, she recorded other titles with Elite Special, among others with Rudi Hofstetter and Peter Alexander .

Erni Bieler later switched to Polydor . It was here that her career as a solo and ensemble singer began in 1954 . However, it wasn't until 1956 that she was able to land her first hit together with the Music Boys with Let the world talk about it . In 1958 she took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest for Bayerischer Rundfunk .

Besides, she took under her pseudonym Kitty Sisters records at heliodore on where they German-language versions of popular US hits interpreted , for example, Nat King Cole , Teresa Brewer , Janis Martin and the Chordettes . In the 1970s and early 1980s, she appeared on several evergreen television shows. She was last seen on television in 1996 , where she and Rudi Hofstetter , one of her former singing partners, presented a selection of her old successful titles in the Musikantenstadl . Her grave is in the Simmering fire hall in Vienna (Section 2, Ring 1, Group 4, No. 240).
